We normally organise our own trips and don't do tours but felt we would try one in Turkey as we had heard good things. And there were good things: air and land transport was reliable and efficient; hotels were well located; hot air balloon ride in Capadoccia was fantastic; some tour guides were excellent; and small friendly group sizes.
However, the morning pick-up times were extremely early, meaning we did not get the breakfasts we paid for and it was a long day; the tour to Ephesus was spoilt for us by a guide that we could barely understand and who took us to a carpet shop for two hours despite us clearly stating we were not interested; the four star hotels we paid for had great views but dreadful breakfasts - so I guess missing out on the other breakfasts had its good side.
We were not shown the exact itinerary before we left Australia so did not have the opportunity to examine the details. Overall, an interesting week but, as I said, some disappointing aspects.
